I think that John should definitely just save everyone a boatload of trouble and turn himself in. Eventually, someone is going to find out that Polly was murdered, and that John is the one who did it. As well, the guilt must be absolutely terrible for him. However, that is what the consequences of KILLING YOUR WIFE are.
I think John should just give up the lies and turn himself in. His lies are only going to take him so far before people start realizing the truth. When the truth comes out, John will (hopefully) regret what he did. He needs to come clean to everyone including Jessie so that she knows what kind of man she married.
I think the right thing for John to do would be to first of all, come clean to Jessie who doesn't even know about his children, tell her about the lies, the murder, and everything. Then come clean to Polly's family and apologize, as if that would make up for anything, but he should still apologize to them for killing their daughter. Also he should come clean to Eileen and Polly's friends and finally turn himself in to the police. Knowing Johns character, this is a long shot. He will probably just dig his hole deeper and deeper and bury himself with more lies and destroy his life, and everyone else's life. He is going to ruin Jessie's life, and Polly's family's life will be over once then discover the truth, and Polly's life is already destroyed.
I think that he should tell Jessie who he really is and everything about his other life. Then he should tell Pollys family that he killed their girl and immediately go and turn himself in. He is ruining other peoples lives just for his own selfish gain.

I think that John should admit to his actions and tell Polly's family, Jessie and her family, and Eileen the truth about his life and that he killed Polly. He should also turn himself into the police before things get worse. He needs to stop lying because his lies always get him into more and more trouble, and I'd be afraid that if he keeps hiding from the truth, something bad will happen again or he will commit another crime... It is not fair for him to not communicate with his children and Polly's family because they care about Polly so much.
I think if John is to escape from the authorities he is to run away once again. if he really values his life he wouldn't take Jessie with him. He would take off unannounced to another country he has no ties to using a false identity.
