I think that the use of technology in police investigations is very, very cool! Technology has come so far since John Wilson's time, too. The fact that we can use a computer to figure out whose hair or whose fingerprint was collected as evidence simply amazes me. This kind technological advancement makes me very hopeful for humanity as a whole.
I think it's interesting to hear about the technology used in this investigation compared to the advanced technology police use now. Back then, you couldn't use a lie detector to tell you weather or not a suspect commuted a certain crime. You would just have to ask and use your judgement. It's amazing to see how far technology has come and how much easier it is to put bad people in jail because we have the proper technology.
The technology that was used during the time of Sgt. John Wilsons case was very limited compared to what we have now. Back then, you could only study the evidence and make a guess when it came to the conclusion of a crime. Now, you can take a swab of a handle of a knife or a gun, put it in a machine, and it will tell you exactly who touched it. You can also make the suspect use a lie detector and instantly find out whether he/she is lying or not. Its fascinating.
I think we have become very far with police technology since then. All the detectives and police have to work on is the remains of the crime scene, and witnesses. They have to really think about it and put the pieces of the puzzle together based on the little evidence they have and witness stories. I think it's really amazing to see how far technology has advanced since then.
I believe technology in police investigations is a marvelous thing. Police can use lie detectors, finger prints, blood samples, DNA, computers, etc. to figure out a crime. Without technology, investigations would be very difficult. Police technology has come a long way since Sgt. John Wilson and we are now able to solve crimes quicker and more efficiently.
