Book Two, Chapter XL

What do you think of John's revised statement?

5 comments:

  1. I think that John's revised statement is a last ditch effort to get himself off with a less heavy punishment. As honorable finally telling the truth is, it's too little too late. What's done is done, and it's really up to judicial system to decide his fate, confession or no. May God have mercy on John's soul.

  2. If John had been honest from the beginning, he wouldn't be in this mess. If he'd been honest, he would have just gone to jail and everyone could be left in peace but of course John tried cover up his story many times and it all came back to bite him in the butt. John deserves every bad thing that comes his way. He did this to himself. He deserves to pay for it.

  3. I think John should have just told the truth from the beginning. I mean its great that he finally confessed but it doesn't matter now. They know what happened already and his confession isnt a surpise. He deserves whats coming.

  4. I think John has almost completely realized he is in way too deep to get out of this web of lies. I honestly think his revised statement is a last effort to try and see if maybe JUST maybe he could lie his way out of the lies he's told. If John had told the truth from the beginning, he could've easily avoided all of this mess and confusion. I think by now the police have come to a conclusion and are just waiting to see if John will confess. John deserves whatever is coming to him, this was always bound to happen.

I am honestly tired of John's lying... He lies and lies and always hides from the truth. If he would have just told the truth about his whole life from the beginning, Polly would have never been killed, and John wouldn't have been in trouble with the law. I believe he keeps on lying and wrote this revised statement because he will never admit to the truth. He is so used to lying and never wants to admit to being guilty.
