Describe your reactions to the events of these chapters.

  1. These chapters were very intense. They pulled me in with the way they were written. I think John Wilson is going to be caught with the murder of Polly because he wasn't that smart with the way he carried out the deed. He's going to say it was an accident; saying Polly didn't know how to handle the weapon, but nobody just accidentally blows off their head. That just doesn't happen. Plus, Polly wasn't suicidal so it makes no sense and John will pay the consequences. - Jared

  2. Hearing about how John murdered Polly actually didn't surprise me. I knew from the previous chapter that the shovel he purchased would come in handy to him. I think John is insane. His lies have gotten him in too deep and the only solution is to get rid of Polly. I feel like he was worried that Polly would tell her family about his second life and Jessie would find out about Polly and the kids. This was the only way to keep her quiet..for good.

  3. These last two chapters are very intense in that John takes very drastic (and not to mention sloppy) actions in order to preserve his double lives. However, the way he carried out his heinous deeds was messy, and it's going to blow up in his face. He's going to get caught, because like Jared said, nobody just accidentally blows off their head.

  4. These chapters didn't really surprise me, but rather frustrated me. The murder was pretty much what I expected, but they way he didn't really plan the next steps is what made me frustrated. He just told it as he went, not making up a story to cover his tracks besides that Polly "blew off her own head accidently" and as suspicious may rise, he will just throw in random lie after lie. This is going to be trouble.

  6. These chapters were bound to happen. They thrilled and excited me, but at the same time, disgusted me and made me feel upset. Of course he was going to kill Polly. But the fact that he made no effort to make his actions unknown, he tells an unconvincing lie.
